When packing by machine, the tape, box and machine need to work well together. The tape must fit the taping head, run properly and suit the cardboard and the conditions in which you pack.
We help you choose a suitable option. Whether for your everyday packing operations, a different application or replacing the tape you currently use.
Brown packing tape provides a matching seal for brown cardboard boxes. A practical choice when you want the tape to blend in with the packaging. The right option depends on your machine, the cardboard and the sealing requirements.
Transparent packing tape leaves the surface underneath visible and suits boxes in different colours. Would you like printing beneath the tape to remain visible? A transparent option may be a suitable choice.
Would you like to use colour to make packaging recognisable? In addition to brown and transparent, further options are available, including blue. Tell us your preferred colour, application and order quantity, and we will explore which version can be supplied.
The dimensions of a machine roll must suit your carton sealing machine. This includes the width and roll length, as well as the core size and the maximum outer diameter the taping head can accommodate. Options include rolls that are 48 mm wide and 900 or 990 metres long. The suitable version depends on the available space and your machine’s specifications.
Already using machine rolls? Tell us the current size and the make and model of your carton sealing machine. This will help us assess your enquiry.
The backing and adhesive layer together determine the tape’s properties. The options for machine rolls include versions with BOPP film: an oriented polypropylene film. We match the adhesive type to your cardboard, application process and conditions of use.
Hot melt tape has a synthetic rubber-based adhesive layer. Different versions are available, with varying film thicknesses and adhesive coat weights. The right combination depends on your packaging and how the tape runs on your machine.
Machine rolls with solvent-based adhesive are also available. Are you looking for an alternative to your current tape, or do you have specific adhesion requirements? We will explore which version suits your application.
Do you pack products that will be chilled or frozen? Discuss both the temperature when sealing the box and the conditions during storage and transport.
Special freezer versions are available. We match the choice to your process and the specifications of the tape concerned.
Tape thickness is usually expressed in microns, indicated by µm. One micron is one thousandth of a millimetre.
When comparing machine rolls, it is important to know what a thickness measurement refers to. Does it cover the film alone or the total tape, including the adhesive layer?
The amount of adhesive may also be stated separately as a weight per square metre. This is a different measurement from thickness in microns.
A thicker film is therefore not the only consideration. The adhesive type, adhesive coat weight, cardboard and application process also play a part. We help you assess these properties together.
As well as the tape, the application process deserves attention. Is the tape pressed down properly? Does it run straight along the sealing seam? Are the machine settings appropriate for the tape and the box? The cardboard and conditions on the packing floor also matter. Consider the box surface and the temperature during packing.
Is your current tape lifting, creasing or unwinding unevenly? Describe what you see and when it happens. Information about your tape, boxes and machine helps us provide more focused advice.
Does a standard machine roll not suit your application? Tell us which properties you need. For example, a different size, a specific colour or a version for particular application conditions.
Together with our manufacturers and suppliers, we explore the possibilities. We take your machine, packaging, required order quantity and delivery needs into account.
